Same Seat Situation


My son and I traveled to South Bend, Indiana on Thursday, April 6th to go visit the University of Notre Dame for grad school. We were on flight #1564 traveling from Boston to Chicago. After boarding the plane and waiting for take off, I was approached by a nice man at seat 38C stating that I was in his seat. I told him it was the only seat left in the row and that I figured it was my seat. After a short time, I figured out that there was a young girl sitting in 38A which was my seat. I asked her what seat number she was and she told me 38A...so now we have the same exact seat and everyone on the plan is waiting to take off. This was a very embarrassing moment for both of us. They were able to accommodate me in Row 10 Economy after discovering that the airline had made a mistake and we were both ticketed for seat 38A which caused a 20 minute delay and because of that my son and I missed our connecting flight from Chicago to South Bend via United #5597 operated by SkyWest United Express. We ended up having to stay in Chicago for an extra 2-1/2 hours. It was a long day for both of us and something that could have been prevented.
