Unprofessional - Ticket refund

On April 27th, 2017 I was departing from RDU to EWR when the announcement was made that there was air traffic in Newark and the flight would be delayed and the flight attendant assured me that the plane would wait for me in Newark. Unfortunately, after I arrived to Newark 30 minutes late the flight had left. I spoke with customer service in the Newark Airport and explained that I was in a wedding (Maid of Honor) in Saint Thomas and I needed to be there. They told me the only flight I could get would leave at 12 noon and would have to be a connecting flight to Miami before arriving in Saint Thomas. I asked should I retrieve my bags and they told me NO and that my bags were already loaded on the plane for Saint Thomas and that the bags would be there before I arrived to saint Thomas at 8:40 p.m. Once I arrived in Saint Thomas to retrieve my bags I noticed that my bags weren't there. I went to talk to someone at the United customer service center but they were closed. Since United put me on a connecting flight to American Airlines I went to them and my bags were not there either. I began calling United baggage claim department and they began deflecting and telling me that the bags were with American which was a lie. I spoke to United baggage claims all night long in hopes of retrieving my bags in time for the weeding on the following day at 3:00 p.m. I was finally told after hours of no one knowing where my bags were that my luggage (Bagtag # 5016UA403311) was still in Newark, NJ and had never been sent on the plane. I want you to understand that this was my FIRST times ever flying on an airplane and this has happened to me. I was told by the United baggage department that my bags would be sent on the 9:20 am plane from Newark to Saint Thomas and I would receive the bag by 1:26 p.m. on Friday, Please understand that again, the wedding started at 3:00 p.m. and I was the maid of honor. I walked down to the Saint Thomas airport at 1:15 p.m. and waited for my bags to come. They never came... I called united back and began to express my frustration once again. I even called United at the Newark airport and that is when I was told that yet again I was lied to and that my bags were still in Newark and that they were never sent to Saint Thomas and that they didn't know why my bags were never tagged with any information about where the bags should go. I called United baggage claim again and asked why was I lied to about my baggage and was continuously hung up on. This was not my error. I did not thing wrong and I was treated very unfairly and lied to many times. I contacted American Airlines and they assured me that they would get my bags to Saint Thomas but unfortunately not in time for the wedding. I want United Airlines to understand that I was not able to be the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding. I had absolutely no clothes to wear for two days in Saint Thomas NOTHING !!! I was constantly lied to about my bags for no reason. I did not receive my baggage until 11:45 p.m. Friday night. That was 8 hours after the wedding. I was not able to enjoy my time in Saint Thomas at all because I was emotional and on the phone constantly with United about my bags. I spent a lot of money on the dress, shoes, accessories for the wedding and not to mention a plane ticket and I wasn't able to do anything. I could not attend my best friend’s wedding because I had no clothes to wear. I have been heartbroken and disappointed ever since. I am very weary and probably will never fly again thanks to United and if I decide to fly again It can never be with United Airlines. At this point, I want my money back for the inconvenience, the stress, emotional distress, for the money that was spent for the wedding that I didn't get to attend, and for the lies and deception. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to get the justice I deserve and if I'm ignored I will continue to let my voice be heard. I will go to social media outlets, the news, court and anywhere else I need to go to make sure that everyone is aware of the disrespect and disregard for customer satisfaction. I am hopeful i will not have to resort to that but if I need to I will. If you need any information from me to refund me what is owed to me. please let me know and I will make sure you have the information. I am believing this will be resolved quickly and expeditiously.
